Dance And Math

How do math and dance relate. Well... they relate in many ways.

Some ways they relate are through time and in space. Dance movements create all sorts of shapes and circles, including arcs.

In this picture there are many things that relate to math. For example: His legs are making a straight line and his left arm is making an arc.

Dance also use their body to create a pattern on the floor. Male dancers have to decide how much strength to use when lifting up another dancer. Dancers also use simple math to count the music. A dancer has to be symmetrical and the movements have to be timed correctly with the music.

Though some may not know it, there are many angles and directions in dance.

The girl makes a 90 degree angle with her leg. They both have perfect form and are symmetrical.
Dance and math are very similar though some people do not realize it.
